HAT TAKING CARE

Some useful tips to keep your hat impeccable.

 SIZE 📏

For a smaller fit, add some of the self-adhesive tape (included with your purchase) between the hat and the inside band. Start by placing a section at the back of the hat and if necessary continue on each side and finish at the front. By completely adding the strip, you will get 1cm smaller than its actual size

Manipulation 👌

Handle your hat with care.

When wearing your hat to your head, never pull on the brim to push it in. Place your hat on your head, always handling it by the crown. You can gently push the top of the hat with your fingers to secure it in place.

If the ledge has a slight unwanted curvature, you can reposition it as you wish. When your hat is on your head, place your thumb, underneath, and fingertips, over either side of the brim and back and forth, flattering the brim. - See the cleaning part to avoid having to do this.

Storage 📦

Always store your hat in a dry place away from the sun.

Keep the box bag provided with your purchase! It was designed to protect, store and transport your hat. You can use a trouser hanger to store it in your wardrobe.

When storing your felt hat indefinitely, take the trouble to put it in a plastic bag to protect it from dust, especially if it is black.

If you have a hat box large enough to accommodate your hat, it will be well protected from dust and warping from improper storage.

You can hang your hat flat on the wall. Remember to use an original hook, not too sharp so as not to mark the felt of your hat, for example: a round cabinet handle works very well.

If you want to place your hat on a shelf, make sure the shelf is wide enough so that it has plenty of space. If, for example, the brim of the hat is the least bit against the wall, it will bend. - This is not the best storage suggested.

We do not recommend storage on a coat hook.

Never leave your hat in the car in the strong sun. ⚠️

Cleaning 🧼

To clean your hat from dust, take an adhesive clothes lint roller and gently clean your hat.

Never use soap or other strong products to remove a stain, only use water. For felt hats, we recommend using a soft brush or sponge to remove the stain in gentle circular motions!

For straw hats, you can wipe a small spot with a slightly damp white cloth. Do not use a cloth with a dye because the dye can transfer to the hat

You can also iron the brim of your hat if it is made to be straight. Please place your hat on a flat surface (make sure it is protected), place a neutral colored (no dye) and wet cotton cloth on the brim of the hat and hot iron. The edge will become soft, so please let it dry for 20-30 minutes. Your brim will become stiff again. It's as easy care as a shirt or pants.

Nature 🏕 🎣🌧

If you're out for a few days camping or fishing, here are some great tips to know.

If it rains suddenly, please keep your hat on your head until you get to the shelter. Avoid handling it, leave it on your head. Once you are in the shelter and are ready to remove your soaked hat, take your thumbs and place them below the brim and stick to your temples and gently lift the hat. Place your hat on a flat surface and as dry as possible. It should dry flat. This can be on the picnic table if it is dry and out of the sun or in your tent by following the same rules; flat and dry. You can dry it in the trunk of the car, but CAUTION: only if it is warm and, above all, do not forget there. Second warning: Never let your hat dry in the heat and in the sun, for example in the windshield of your car! ⚠️⚠️ Rain + sun = distortion and discoloration, if you are not careful. By following the rules and letting it dry your hat properly, you are going to do well.

LIFESTYLE 🤠

The more we take care of our hat, the longer it will accompany us. Our handmade hats are durable if handled with care. These are not caps! Our hats are made from natural materials and may change color and be warped if exposed to a long period of heat and humidity. In the event of an accident, the felt can be reworked to make it look great again, but only if it has been properly maintained. Hats made of straws are more fragile, we do not recommend going in the rain with this one. If in doubt contact us by email, it will be our pleasure to help you!

These warnings are just to help you keep your hat on for as long as possible, but think about it !!! The more the hat has lived the more beautiful it is! So wear your hats! 🤠🤠🤠
